Ofrenda Making Workshop with DIA Artist and Cultural Educator Kia ix Arriaga

In Mexico, and other Latin American countries, the Day of the Dead is the time of the year to celebrate the lives of close relatives, friends, or community members who have passed away. Objects important to lost love ones, such as favorite foods, drinks, mementos, and pictures are collected and incorporated into elaborate displays.

Join artist and cultural educator, Kia ix Arriaga for a virtual workshop about the tradition of altar making. Participants are encouraged to gather materials in advance to make their own altar, or just follow along and watch the process. In addition to personal items to include in your altar, it is recommended that you also gather craft supplies such as colorful paper, scissors, and glue. A list of recommended supplies will be sent upon registration.
