With Justin Carroll

Because of its proximity to the water routes, Michigan became integrally involved in the fur trade that spawned the early economy of the region. John Askin was a prominent fur trader on the Great Lakes who was based at Fort Michilimackinac. Historian and author Justin Carroll of Indiana University will tell the story of this significant figure in Michigan’s early history.
