Did you know that Macomb Community College has a dedicated police and fire training academy? Tucked away on the East Campus site, this facility offers excellent career training for aspiring public servants in the areas of criminal justice and fire/emergency. The academy is conducted in a paramilitary format, with stringent uniform and grooming standards, demanding physical fitness expectations, high academic standards and a focus on the professionalism that is expected by the fire service. The academy format is intended to properly prepare our graduates for successful entry into a fire service career. Join us for a behind-the-scenes tour as well as a real-world emergency demonstration.

But that’s not all! After this tour we will visit another hidden gem located right next door—the James B. Nicholson Nature Center trail which winds along the north branch of the Clinton River. This is a very convenient location for the traditional MORE summer hike! It was deeded by the PVS Chemical Company patriarch when his family farm was subdivided, ensuring the rural character of the property would be maintained for posterity.

About the Fire Academy presenter: Jeffrey is the director of the Macomb Community College Fire Training Center. He is a retired Roseville firefighter with 15 years of service. He has also worked as an instructor in related subjects for eight years.
