This class is the religious version of 'politically speaking' held during the spring session. Two highly respected MORE presenters will discuss various perspectives on their respective theologies: Christian and Muslim. In addition to listening to these views on set topics, the audience will have an opportunity to pose their own questions. This program will be moderated by MORE Director Dave Tarrant. About the Presenters: Dr. Prues attended the University of Cincinnati where he earned a B.A. and an MBA in marketing and financial management. He received his Master of Divinity from Dubuque Theological Seminary (1974) and a DMin and Ph.D. from San Francisco Theological Seminary in 1980. From 1970 through 2021 Dr. Prues had Pastorates in Michigan, Washington State, Iowa and California. In addition to his many other professional commitments, Dr. Prues serves as chair of Samaratis, a social services nonprofit agency.
Imam Steve Mustapha Elturk is president of the Islamic Organization of North America (IONA) in Warren, Michigan, with a master's degree in social justice from Marygrove College. Imam Elturk serves on the advisory board of the Michigan Coalition of Human Rights, and is a founding member of the American Human Rights Council. Imam Elturk is a publicly engaged Muslim leader and a leading interfaith activist in the Metro Detroit Area.
