Mapping Hamtramck takes a different approach to telling the history of a remarkable community. Various forms of maps are used to show how Hamtramck grew from a rural farming community to a major industrial city in little more than a decade. This was a transformation unprecedented in the nation and a key aspect of the rapid growth of the auto industry in Detroit.

About the Presenter: Greg Kowalski is executive director of the Hamtramck Historical Museum. He is a retired journalist with more than 40 years’ experience writing for and editing newspapers and magazines. He has written 13 local history books including Hamtramck: Through the Years. Established MORE attendees recognize Greg as one of the most consistently popular presenters.
