Learn the history of this canal as we trace its path through the county and gain a new perspective on an era in Michigan - when waterways were the primary means of bulk transportation, and railroads were in the future.
About the Presenter: A lifelong Macomb County resident, Deborah's family arrived in Macomb County about 1870, settling in Sterling Township. She lives on part of the property her great-grandfather bought at auction in 1894-with the canal forming the western border of the property. With this background, Deborah offers a genuine and sincere perspective on Macomb County history.
