D-Day is a critical event in western history and the basic outlines are well known. What is less well known are the factors leading to that success and the events that transpired from June 6 until the ultimate defeat of the German Army in Normandy three months later. Because of available class time, the focus of this presentation will be on the American experience rather than on the significant roles played by British and Canadian forces.
