    About the presentation

    This presentation offers an introduction to substance use disorders (SUD), including prescription drug misuse, stigma, and the changes substance use makes to the brain. We will also introduce the principles of Family Recovery, including how the family is affected by their loved one's use of substances, and how we can more effectively support our loved ones using or recovering from use of substances.

    “About the Presenter: Carlos Rivera has been working for over 10 years providing education about substance use disorders, both for treatment and for prevention, and to support families impacted by substance uses. As a loved one of someone with a substance use disorder, he has lived the experience. Carlos is currently the Family Recovery Services Supervisor at the Face Addiction Now organization.”
