    About the presentation

Many Americans watched the excellent new Ken Burns series on the American Revolution. A fundamental part of the story turns on evolution of the colonies’ governance from idealism expressed in the Declaration of Independence to a constitutional government with a Bill of Rights. What historic concepts informed those who formed the union? What arguments shaped codification of these into legal documents? How did the conception of the Articles of Confederation lead to the American Constitution? These finer points of the American Revolution story will be explored in this class.
