    The war was over and the automobile industry—the heart of the Arsenal of Democracy—was in the process of regaining its footing in an automotive market that had been put on hold. Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the first Detroit-made autos was an obvious means to rekindle the postwar industry, and with many originators of the industry still alive and active, the timing was right. This class provides a clear view of the Motor City at the very start of the postwar boom.

    “About the Presenter: Terry Boyce is a noted, well-published automotive journalist and historian of long standing. He is an avid collector of rare automotive documents, artifacts and photographs. In addition, Terry has owned a long series of historically important automobiles, including a unique 1940 Buick built specially for GM President Harlow Curtice, which he recently donated to the GM heritage center for permanent display. Among many other achievements, Terry edited the Standard Catalog of American Cars, considered the “bible” of American automotive history.”
