    • About the presentation

    Piquette—Ford’s first purpose-built assembly plant—has been preserved as a museum. Most importantly, this facility is where the famous Model T was designed and first produced. The actual design room has been restored, along with many other aspects of the period, including a host of rare and important historic vehicles. The day features an orientation lecture coupled with docent-led tour and plenty of opportunity to explore on your own.

    Logistics Information:
    The tour will meet at Z’s Villa restaurant near the Piquette Plant for lunch and presentation before going to the museum.

    “About the Presenter: Mike Skinner is a native Detroiter who possesses bachelor and MBA degrees from Wayne State. He has been a Detroit and Ford history buff for more than a half- century and is a past president of various historical societies. He has also been a board member and volunteer at the Ford Piquette Avenue Plant since the building was converted into a museum in 2000. He and his wife Sandy have lived in St. Clair Shores for 30 years.”
